Pivot Point Advantage:
- The SIDESHIFT Bow Thrusters are mounted at the farthest point forward unlike conventional bow thrusters that need to be in the hull of the vessel closer to the center.
- Requires less thrust than conventional thrusters
- Uses less amperage.
- Maneuvers are more accurate.
Maintenance:
- Conventional bow thrusters are plagued with weeds, Zebra mussels, barnacles etc. and whatever can get in the pipe. Being in a pipe makes it very hard to clean out. The SIDESHIFT bow thrusters are not hard to maintain because it is not installed in a pipe.
- Once a year in the spring check the anodes and change if necessary
Electricity:
- SIDESHIFT bow thruster model SS230 12 Volt DC draws 300 Amp.
- A transformer (part # 0263) is available for 24 volt units to enable the use of your existing 12 volt charging system. See accessories for more information.
